He's getting kind of upset because we are all homeschooled. He thinks we play games all day while he's doing school work. But REALLY...

We are doing school, too! This year I'm in second grade. I'm doing math, language arts reviews and reading every day. Some days we have to do chores and cleaning. Some days we go to the library. One day we went to a doctor's appointment for my dad. I had to bring my school work with us that day.

When Nathan gets home from school, we have to do some cursive together. This is extra practice from what we normally do in school. Sometimes we have to DANCE and jump around! That's when our fingers get tight or when they don't work right or if we don't pay attention.

After school stuff is all done, we can PLAY all the rest of the day! I've read all the books I can here so I want to read even harder books at the library.

I read a little bit of another Warrior book [epic adventures of feral cats]. Then I read a mermaid book. And I read a manga [cartoon] Warriors book. That was funny cuz they were in the only other RV there! (besides two RVs that live there and help for the summer). We like playing dishes...and family.

Now we're in Canada. There's a fun little playground here. It has swings, a little playhouse thing, and a BIG tire to play in. It was fun to meet kids here cuz all of them still liked imagination play--even the big girl! I think the "Crunchie" bar [by Cadbury] was the best. Mom also got Kinder Surprise Eggs for Jakob and me. I've gotten to the fourth chapter so far in one of the Warrior Series books. They are about cats that are warriors. They protect where they live. These cats live wild. In the book I started a house cat came and joined them.

My brother Jakob started reading these. He learned about them from our cousins, Grace and Emma. Then, when we were living in Phoenix, he got a friend of ours to start reading the books.

Jakob and Kailee they were playing a game about the cats in the books. It was all make believe. They were two of the cats and I was one cat. I got frustrated cuz I didn't really know what was going on.

So I started reading these books! Right now, I'm sad cuz we don't have any of the books. Mom says she won't buy them for me because there are too many of them. So we have to wait until we get to a library again.'

If you like cats or if you like fighting or if you like make believe, YOU SHOULD READ THESE BOOKS!

My Friend Kailee

This is my friend Kailee. She moved into the same RV Park as us in Phoenix. She lives in her RV all the time and they travel all around for her daddy to do work. She is homeschooled like we are. So we could play together at "recess" time.

It's really fun to be with Kailee. She has a good imagination. Sometimes we played with my Littlest Petshops. Other times it's just imagination.

She got a scooter, too. That way we didn't have to share ours. She was really FAST on her scooter. But I could usually be ahead or just a little bit behind her. She liked to chase other kids when we played cops and robbers. Sometimes we pretended our scooters were different types of horses.

Both Kailee and I LOVE horses! We played horses on scooters. We played with my horse figures. We played with her My Little Ponies. AND...she gave me a Bella Sara card.

Bella Sara is cards you can collect. Kailee has a whole book full of them! And she has a little tin half full. She says that she has a little small booklet, too, that's full. You try to get all the cards in the sets. But you can play with them on computer. The picture here is when Kailee and I were setting up my Bella Sara account. Now I have 3 horses on line. You have to take care of them by cleaning the stall and spreading fresh straw, and feeding them, and groom them.

It's LOTS easier than doing that for Ms. Helen in Ohio. Her real horses take a LOT more time! But it's more fun to ride them for real...

My Friend Madison

Madison is 6 years old. Can you imagine you have to crawl and go through a little door to get inside your house? Can you imagine going way down below to get your water? That's what it was like to live in Walnut Canyon!

We went there last Saturday. First we saw a museum. I learned about what they hunted and abut what the boys and the girls did. I also started working on my Junior Ranger Badge! Then we went outside. It looked VERY cool. There were houses built IN the walls and they were all over! Then we had to start going down. Nettie held my hand most of the time cuz we were right at the edge and Mom wanted to make sure that I didn't fall off!

First we just saw houses on the other sides of the canyons. After we got way down, then we could go in some of the houses that were part-way ruins and broken open. That was cool to be inside a house that people had lived in almost a THOUSAND years ago! The houses that were still in one piece we could look in but we couldn't go in. I'm wondering WHY they didn't let us in? [because of the risk of hanta virus passed via mouse droppings in enclosed places--if caught, there is a 50% death rate!!]

Then we had to walk back up. It was HARD! We walked up and up and up and up and there were 240 stairs! When we finally got to the top, we went back inside and I got my Junior Ranger Badge! That makes FOUR I have now. And on this Saturday I'm going to get ANOTHER Jr Ranger Badge at the park with all the cactuses. It's sunny all day, it's warm in the day, and we are wearing summer clothes. Do you know where we are? We are in Arizona!

It was COLD in Arizona at the Grand Canyon. It was like spring in the center of Arizona. Now we are in the "Valley of the Sun" and it is summer. I think we are here to get more warm. (Mom says we are here to see our sister Nettie...)

It's fun here cuz there's three kids I can play with. We played with my stuffed animals at the "sea" [the sunny gravel was the beach] near my RV, we played a magic game where we had to save each other, and we played with the neighbor's dog whose name is Snickers.

Then Mom let us go to the park. It's down behind another trailer. We scootered, played on a little tiny trampoline to get onto the bars, and we played hide-and-go-seek (but we could hide anywhere in the RV place!!).

Then we played near their house [RV]. We played with my scooter to see who could go the farthest, we drawed with my markers, and my brother even made me and the others a little game.

At the end of the day it was SAD. We had to go home! I had so much fun I looked like a mophead, and I had a really dirty face, and my feet looked like a monster!! (cuz of how black they were)

Now it's the next day. Right now we have to do school so Mom and I are sitting outside on the patio. While I tell Mom what to type I am scootering. I want to finish quick to play with my friends again!

Grand Canyon Mules

Every day the mules go down in the Grand Canyon. They go down the trail behind the Bright Angel Lodge. It's pretty steep. The trail goes zig-zags to get down. They carry people down early in the morning. They come back up in the late afternoon. The front guy looked like a COWBOY! He tells the riders what they are supposed to do. We heard him yelling at the rider for Mordecai to make the mule go faster or they would NEVER get out of the canyon!! The rider thought she was hitting the mule...but she was really hitting the packs! (Chester and Mordecai are on the postcard I bought--and they are still mules riding in the canyon.)

We walked part way down that same trail. Twice the mules came past us. You can't sit by the outside of the trail when they go past or they might knock you down the canyon! It was cool to see 'em that close. The only problem on the trail was they left muddy hoof-prints and POOP! (I learned the nice word for that...SCAT!)

It would be good to ride a mule to see the river at the bottom---cuz it wouldn't take as long. It might be scary going down because when you look down it feels like you're going to fall off. That's what I felt just WALKING down! It might feel a little bit better going up because it wouldn't look scary. And it would be great because your leg muscles wouldn't get tired out from walking!

My FIRST Junior Ranger Badge!

I got a badge from Arches National Park. A Junior Ranger Badge! You have to get a book from the ranger and pick up trash in the bag they give you. The book had fun stuff to do like a bingo of things you see. (This picture is by the visitor center where they have statues of some of the animals that live here. These are the Bighorn Sheep. I wish I could have gone on them but you could only touch them.)

It was fun on the [primitive] trail when we had to look for the stone cairns to follow. Now here's HER story...

My mom takes me out and sees if I see my shadow. She started doing that my first birthday. She sat me in the SNOW that year! Every year she also takes my picture. If I see my shadow, it means there will be 6 more weeks of winter. If I don't see a shadow then Spring is almost here.

MY shadow does not match Punxatawney Phil's every year. But my shadow is usually right for where I live! This year we are living in Golden, Colorado. Most days it is SUNNY! So we thought I should see a shadow. But on Monday it was grey skies like Cleveland. So I did not see a shadow.

YAY! Spring is coming!

(...but I can't promise anything about where YOU live!)

School Assignment -- Colorado Indians and Horses

This is a horse with a travois. (Jakob helped me make this for one of my horses.) A travois is made from 2 poles that are attached to the horse and dragged behind. Indians sometimes carried some of their stuff that way. Also, sometimes young kids could ride back there!

Indians used horses in many ways. Horses could carry lots of stuff. They helped to carry back buffalo hides filled with meat after a hunt.

When Indians were riding horses, they could herd buffalo to where they wanted them to go. The horses were also fast enough to get close enough to kill buffalo. Without horses, the Indians couldn't kill very many buffalo. They had to either wear animal skins to sneak up on the buffalo and hope to kill one. Or the Indians could run and chase the buffalo herd over a cliff or into a trap.

Having many horses meant you were RICK! And if your horse could run very fast it might win at horse racing.

Sometimes owning horses was a problem. The biggest problem was other tribes raiding your camp and stealing your horses. In the winter you also had to have enough food to feed all of your horses.

Doing School Computer

Do YOU ever get in trouble for doing too much computer?! I like it so much that I sometimes stay on too long. This picture shows one of the most comfy places to do computer--sitting on the couch. I would do it at the table but our dad takes up so much of the table with his computer stuff and papers.

The rest of us do computer at the couch, just like I do. We also use it on the bed, on the floor, on the dining bench, and even outside sometimes! (Even though it's winter here, we have lots of sun, blue skies, and warm days!)

For school on computer, I do blogs (like I'm doing now). Sometimes I do email or computer learning games. [I, mom, am planning to get Anna a typing learning game soon---so I don't have to keep typing what she dictates!!] Sometimes I get to help Josefina at the Santa Fe Market on American Girls.

I wish I could spend more computer time on games. My favorites are club penguin, webkins and sometimes Fetch and Dragon Fable. In Club Penguin, I have a free penguin character. It's name is storm fairy. I like to take it to the dojo and there is a game called card-jitsu. That's where I can get different colored belts, like karate. When you are a black belt, you have to challenge the sensei and win to become a full ninja. Right now, I am a red belt.

If you email me, I will email back to you!

Us in the Mountains...by the Big BOULDERS

Have you ever climbed through big boulders? We got to do that yesterday. We walked and walked and walked...then we had to climb a steep hill. Then we found the big boulders. They were all over the ground and were very close to each other.

First we had some picnic lunch. We were all sitting on the boulders---mom found a little throne (mama thinks she's a queen!). I was on top, over her throne. Jakob was sitting on a slanted boulder, perfect for a seat. And he put his feet on a rock across from it.

During lunch we had to look at the layers. We've been learning about mountains in school. They used to be flat layers stacked on top each other but now they're all slanted. That means a long time ago the rocks got lifted up and tilted to make mountains. They were VERY colorful---pink, grey, browns, a little orangey-red, and a yellow layer of hard clay at the very tippy top. Wouldn't you like a CAKE like that?!

I played with my fairies on all the rocks. But we are going to start another blog for me to tell all the stories about my fairies!

DOGS in the RV Park...

Did you know there are LOTS of dogs in an RV park? I really like that! There are big ones, small ones, medium ones and even a GIANT one! There are black ones, gold ones, white ones, brown ones, and black and brown ones.

All of them are pretty well behaved. Some of them actually are super friendly. One of them barks alot, but only at new people. They only come outside with their owners. Most of them are kept on leashes.

My favorite dog is "Robin" -- a medium sized brown and black dog that belongs to a friend. I like his colors. He is a silky dog but he doesn't really like to be petted. I don't know why. He's mostly a yappy dog and he loves treats. I got to throw a treat for him and he went and ate it.

We have a new dog next door. His name is "Niwat." He's really big...he's SUPER big...he weighs almost the same as me! He's very furry with white and a few light brown spots on his back. He loves to be petted...but I'm a little bit afraid of him knocking me over by putting his paws on me to get me to pet him more! I really wish we could have a dog again but we can't cuz we will have to go to another country to get to Alaska and that might be hard with a dog. The snow is way up in the mountains and it's usually sunny here.

There was no snow when we came home from my Uncle Rick's last night. And then today there was at least 4 inches of snow! So we didn't stick on our summer clothes to stay inside today...we got on our snowpants and a coat and gloves and a hat...and then...

WE WENT TO THE PLAYGROUND that was super-slippery!

First we went around doing the slides before our mom got there. The slides were really slippery, too, because they were covered with snow. NObody had been on the playground before us. So we went down the slides. One of the slides, I FLEW off it! One of the times I hit Jakob. Other times I got buried in the snow. Have any of you gone on a playground that's all snowy?

Here I was pretending to be a spy. That was the spy headquarters. From the other side, it just looks like steps. Most people wouldn't want to go up it because there's alot and alot of snow on it. When Jakob came running up, he made snow fall through little holes in the steps and it got snow on me!

I was also being a princess up on top the playground. Jakob was attacking my kingdom with SNOWBALLS!

And when Mom made us leave (because SHE was getting cold!) then Jakob got hot chocolate and I got something called Egg Nog. Jakob and Mom help watch Daddy doesn't hit anything and help line him up straight. I had to stay on the wood porch [of the check-in building] because that way I could be kept safe. I was UPSET because I had to stay away.

The next step was to level the RV so it doesn't tilt all different ways. We don't want it tipped to make it feel weird to walk around. We put down the front legs. I got to help by pushing the "ext" button which lowered the legs. There was a little, small leveler. You looked to see if the bubble was in the exact center. On the back legs you don't press a button. You use a crank handle. I can't do that--that was only the boys!

After it's all level, I pulled down the stairs. That was kinda sad and kinda happy. It was happy that we were going to go living in the RV soon. It was upsetting cuz we had to do alot of sorting and I don't really like sorting. And [3 fingers raised] I'd rather be playing.

Next, we put all our stuff in boxes and we packed it up to go down to the farm. My job was to not mess up the sorting--don't go through the piles, don't mess the room up with other toys, don't talk alot (cuz they didn't want me to get them distracted).

I'm thinking we got rid of about 30 bags of trash. The first trip down to the farm our stuff filled up almost half of the garage. This time all the boxes had to be carried up to the attic at the farm. Now what we have left in the house is "give-aways." I'm thinking we will give away 35 or 40 boxes of scrapbook stuff, and toys, and books, clothes and my big doll and stuff for babies. It's okay to get rid of stuff and throw it away because the things we stored are our good stuff and our most important stuff is already in the RV.
